MEGHALAYA POLICE APPREHEND HNLC LEADER’S PSO IN SHILLONG

Shillong, March 02 : Meghalaya Police arrested Storgy Lyngdoh, the personal security officer (PSO) of the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), on Saturday morning.

Based on a tip-off, an operation team from the East Khasi Hills district apprehended the 41-year-old HNLC cadre at his residence in Mawlynrei, Khliehshnong Block-C, Shillong.

During the operation, the police recovered one mobile phone, along with one Bangladesh Banglalink SIM card and one Indian Airtel SIM card and one 1GB SD memory card from Lyngdoh’s possession.

Authorities suspect Lyngdoh’s involvement in activities like extortion, regrouping HNLC activities, and mobilizing support for the banned group.

Notably, Lyngdoh was one of the three PSOs who accompanied HNLC leaders during peace talks with the government in 2023. However, the talks failed to yield any concrete results.
