Shillong, June 08 : A minor girl was sexually assaulted by three men while on an evening walk in a forest in Risa Colony on June 3, 2023. Secretary of Risa Colony Dorbar informing the Laitumkhrah Police Station, police rushed to the spot to find the girl and an 18-year old boy had been accosted by the assailants, who demanded the duo pay a fine for being in the forest. The two miscreants then started assaulting the boy, while the third was with the girl. Despite the boy’s pleas to let the girl go, both were forced to strip and robbed of their belongings. The boy managed to escape from their cluthes and run for help to the residential area of Risa Colony, while the three men sexually assaulted the minor girl.
A case was registered under Section 323 IPC R/W Section 7/8/9/10/11/12 POCSO ACT by the police. Two assailants were later arrested from Khliehshnong Malki on June 7, 2023, while the third has been identified and is expected to be arrested soon. The investigation into the assault continues.
