Mr & Miss Baisakhi 2026 Celebrated in Grand Style in Shillong

Shillong, April 20: The Khalsa Sports and Cultural Association organised the “Mr and Miss Baisakhi 2026” pageant as part of the vibrant Baisakhi celebrations, a well-known Punjabi festival marking the harvest season.

The event showcased cultural diversity and traditional fashion, with participants taking part in multiple rounds highlighting both modern and ethnic attire. In the first round, contestants appeared in formal wear along with an introduction segment, where one participant represented traditional Khasi attire, including the dhara and paila.

In the second round, contestants presented Punjabi traditional wear followed by a question round. The same participant also showcased Khasi traditional attire, featuring ryndia and paila, reflecting a blend of cultural representation on the stage.

The event was judged by a distinguished panel including Riya Suting (Miss P&I India 2025), Dr. Manjeet Kaur Kashat (Vice Counsellor, CMJ University, Meghalaya), Stella Rica Khongsni (Sunsilk Mega Miss Northeast 2026), Vienna Jaitley (Subject Matter Expert at FIS), Prateek Thapah (GMI Mr. India IAMS International 2024), and Rochelle Mitson Wahlang (former beauty queen, mentor, and event manager).

The programme celebrated not only the spirit of Baisakhi but also promoted cultural exchange and unity, bringing together traditions from different communities on one platform.
