NEIGRIHMS HOSPITAL CONDUCTS EAST ZONE PAEDIATRIC NEPHROLOGY CONFERENCE

 NEIGRIHMS was abuzz with activity today as it hosted the much anticipated East Zone Paediatric Nephrology Conference 2024. This event was organized by the Department of Paediatrics at NEIGRIHMS, underscoring the institution’s commitment to advancing knowledge.

Under the able leadership of Dr. Himesh Barman, Professor and Head of the Department, and his team comprising Dr. Rosina Ksoo, Associate Professor, and Dr. Mampy Das, Assistant Professor, the conference brought together a diverse group of experts and participants. The event featured a series of insightful discussions and presentations on critical topics including the commonly encountered Nephrotic Syndrome, Glomerulonephritis, and Urinary Tract Infections (UTI).

The conference was graced by Prof. (Dr) C. Daniala, Medical Superintendent of NEIGRIHMS, who delivered a keynote address emphasizing the urgent need for a dedicated Paediatric Nephrology unit at the Institute with a vision to start a DM Residency program in Paediatric Nephrology in the near future, reflecting NEIGRIHMS’s ongoing dedication to expanding specialized training and care in the region.

The national faculty added substantial value to the conference. Dr. Anil Vasudevan from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, and Dr. Valentine Lobo from KEM Hospital, Pune, provided comprehensive insights into the recent advances in the field, including medical genetics, highlighting the latest breakthroughs and their implications for clinical practice.

Participants included pediatric nephrology faculty members from various states across Eastern India, such as West Bengal, Meghalaya, Assam, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh. The conference also saw active engagement from delegates, including DNB residents, who participated in quizzes, paper presentations, and poster sessions.
