Shillong, June 30 : The district police have warned vehicle owners who have fitted black films and sirens illegally on their vehicles to remove them with immediate effect.
The police said that they have come to the observation that many vehicles are using black films, which violate the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The Supreme Court has prohibited using of black films of any percentage Visual Light Transmission (VLT) on the safety glasses, windscreens (front and rear) and side glasses.
The police have also received several complaints from the public about vehicles that are illegally fitted with sirens. Sirens are only allowed to be used by emergency vehicles, such as police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks.
The police said that strict action will be taken against violators. They said that vehicle owners who do not remove the illegal black films and sirens from their vehicles will be fined and their vehicles may be impounded.
