Shillong, October 6 : Ranji cricket player Lakhan Singh was assaulted by a group of miscreants near Anjalee Cinema Hall on October 4, 2023. The incident took place when Singh was on his way to Jhalupara on his scooty.
According to the FIR, a car overtook Singh’s scooty and asked him to stop. A group of miscreants then came out of the car and started assaulting Singh. Singh sustained minor injuries on his face as a result of the attack.
A case has been registered under Sections 325, 341, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Cantonment Beat House. One of the miscreants involved in the attack was arrested on October 5, 2023, and is being produced in court after police custody. Efforts are on to nab the other miscreants involved.
The Superintendent of Police (City), East Khasi Hills, Shillong, Vivek Syiem, has issued a statement confirming the incident and the arrest of one of the miscreants. He has assured that efforts are on to nab the other miscreants involved.
