RETAINING WALL AT P.A. STADIUM COLLAPSES, NO CASUALTIES

Tura June 23 : A part of the peripheral retaining wall of the football stadium at the P.A. Sangma Sports Complex in Tura, Meghalaya collapsed on Thursday morning. No casualties were reported in the incident.

The initial cause of the collapse is being attributed to heavy rains that have been experienced in the Tura and West Garo Hills region in recent days.

The football stadium is part of a larger sports complex that is being built by the state government at a cost of Rs. 127.7 crore. The complex includes two indoor halls, a swimming pool, and a gymnasium.

The Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills has launched an official investigation into the cause of the collapse. An engineering team from the State Sports Council of Meghalaya is also at the site conducting a technical investigation.

The state government has said that it is working with all stakeholders to ensure that the construction of the sports complex is completed on time and that the people and youth of Tura can utilize this significant infrastructure.
