UMIAM BRIDGE CLOSURE AND TRAFFIC DIVERSION FOR REPAIR WORK (MARCH 31 – APRIL 8)

Shillong, March 22 : Traffic on the Umiam Dam Bridge will be regulated or closed for several days to allow for repairs to the bearings and expansion joints.

  • Complete closure for 6 hours: The bridge will be completely closed on March 31st, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
  • Limited traffic for one week: From 2PM of March 31st, 2024, to 7AM of April 8th, 2024, only vehicles upto 4 tons will be allowed on one lane of the bridge. Vehicles exceeding 2.5 meters in height (including cargo) will not be permitted during this time.
  • Lane restriction lifted on April 8th: From7.00A.M onwards of 8th April 2024, vehicles upto 15 Tons will be allowed on half lane of the Bridge.

  • Shillong-NEIGRIHMS-New Shillong Township-Diengpasoh-Lad Umroi Road (LMVs only) – 63.20 KM
  • UCC-Mawlyndep-Mawmaram Road (for vehicles proceeding towards Mairang/Nongstoin) (LMVs only) – 39.30 KM
  • Shillong-Laitkor-Mawryngkneng-Lad Umroi Road (all vehicles including HGVs and buses) – 92.00 KM
  • Shillong-Mairang-Nongkhlaw-Guwahati Airport Road (all vehicles including HGVs and buses) – 120.00 KM

Drivers are advised to plan their trips accordingly and consider using alternative routes to avoid delays.
