Shillong, April 30: A young woman from Meghalaya was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Bengaluru on Wednesday evening, prompting calls for a thorough investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Agatha Ba Ithianghun Khongwet, a resident of Tangmang village in Pynursla, East Khasi Hills district.
According to reports, she was discovered dead between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM in her rented accommodation in Hebbal, Bengaluru, where she was reportedly living with a man identified as Nawaz Sharif, said to be her partner and a resident of Manipur.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the case. While initial reports suggest the possibility of suicide, police have not ruled out other angles, including foul play.
Members of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Bengaluru Unit, along with the victim’s friends, reached the spot and extended necessary assistance. The union has urged the concerned authorities to ensure a fair, impartial, and comprehensive probe into the incident.
The KSU Bengaluru Unit also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family during this difficult time.
