Shillong, May 31, 2023: The opening ceremony of the Chief Minister’s State Level Inter-School Athletic Meet 2023 was held today at SAI, STC Shillong, NEHU Campus in which Isawanda Laloo, Director, Sports & Youth Affairs graced the event as the chief guest.
A total of 818 athletes from all the districts of the State will participate in the three days event starting from 31st May to 2nd June 2023.
The chief guest encouraged the athletes to uplift the spirit of sportsmanship and she hoped that through the event the athletes can build friendships, maintain discipline, patience and the importance of endurance. “Sports are something which teaches lessons in the different aspects of life, what you learn on the track or on the field will be wonderful lessons in your life”, she said.
The chief guest along with other dignitaries unfurled the flag to signal the opening of the meet.
Others who were present in the programme were Working President of MSOA, John F. Kharshiing, Assistant Director Sports & Youth Affairs, P.B War Nongbri, and officials of Sports & Youth Affairs Department.
