UDP-LED KHADC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TOPPLED IN NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION

SHILLONG, JUNE 19: The UDP-led executive committee in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) was toppled on Monday after a No-Confidence motion was moved by the National People’s Party (NPP) and supported by the opposition Congress.

The motion was passed by 17 members, including 11 NPP and 6 Congress. The motion was moved by Rambrai-Jyrngam MDC Bajop Pyngrope.

Chairman of the Council Lamphrang Blah after putting the motion to vote declared that the EC under the leadership of Titosstarwell Chyne has collapsed today.

Blah also announced that the election to the post of Chief Executive Member will be held on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mawryngkneng MDC Pyniaid Sing Syiem has filed his nomination papers for the CEM election.

Earlier in his speech, Chyne has termed the motion as an act of betrayal by the NPP.
