The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) from West Jaintia Hills District took out a rally to Meghalaya Secretariat on the 29th of May, 2023, seeking to meet the seven MLAs from Jaintia Hills.
Around 20 to 25 HITO members were stopped by the police at the main entrance and were not allowed to enter.
Speaking to the media, HITO leader from West Jaintia Hills, Wanbiang Pulang, stated that the seven MLAs from Jaintia Hills were absent from their residences in both Shillong and Jowai, thus forcing them to go and meet them at the Secretariat.
Later, only two members were allowed to enter inside the Secretariat, and after a few minutes, they returned and informed that they could only meet the MLA from Raliang, Coming One Ymbon, as the others were not in the office.
